| Erula is a tiny village inhabited by less than 1000 people which belongs to the geographic region of L’Anglona in north west Sardinia. The village is strategically positioned within a short drive to the dual carriage road Sassari-Tempio, providing an easy access to Olbia (74 km) and Alghero airport (77 km.) It is also just 19 km from the blue-azure waters and golden beaches of the Asinara Gulf. The village lies on a vast plateau that reaches its maximum height of 701m on La Sarra Mount that dominates the enchanting surroundings treasuring the views of the granite range of the Limbara Mountain, the Coghinas river, the pink coloured summit of Monti Ruju and the expansive plain dotted with lovely farming villages. The terrain is covered with luscious and fragrant vegetation, typical for the Mediterranean area, ablazed with holm oaks, almond trees and scented arbutus. Particularly rich and variegated is the wildlife here: there are, among others, wild boars, foxes, martens, hares and many species of birds. This territory also hosts a network of several unpolluted streams that flow into the nearby Altana and Anzos rivers. Just 9 km further brings you to the village of Perfugas which has the highest concentration of the fascinating Prenuraghic graves called Domus de Janas or Abodes of Fairies and the largest Petrified Forest in Sardinia. The very place of Erula cherishes one of the mighty Bronze Age conical towers - the Nuraghe di Ispine. One of the main attractions in the inland region is the Casteldoria Thermal Baths and its marvellous setting of steep gorges and splendid panoramas of eucalyptus, pine and olive trees and the fragrant shrubs . The hot spring waters here ,sodium chloride/bromine, have in fact been exploited for centuries by people such as the Romans for their curative powers. The variety and beauty of this territory and the presence of the Coghinas river, that stretches over 115 km into narrowed untouched gorges , offers great outdoor opportunities such as canoeing ,riding and cycling. This recent addition to the Sardinian property market is a 19th century Stazzu, a farmhouse, just a few minutes’ drive from Erula, in a rural hamlet called Falzittu by locals. Accessed by a secondary road, the property occupies a land of 650 sq m on which there are 2 outbuildings of around 20 and 50 sq m in size. Although these characteristic buildings need complete restoration, this is a genuine mouth-watering prospect for any investor that likes to make their designing dreams come true. Those that have taken on an opportunity like this before have found fabulous properties for a fraction of the market value. The attractive 2-level farmhouse lies adjacent to another property, spreading over a total surface of 85 sq m. Worth mentioning is the fact that in the past only the well-off Sardinian families could afford the cost of developing a two-storey house. Moreover, all the precious original features are still visible, preserved within the sound structure of the building. Water and electricity and sewer are in place and just need to be connected. Price is subject to Vat and legal cost.
