Telti nestlesamong rolling hills in the stunning Gallura region , 15 km west of Olbia airport , 300 m above the sea level. Inhabited by 2000 people, this village is surrounded by a patchwork of vast woodland of cork andoak trees, rugged granite ranges and grassy fields. This magical spot treasures its microcosm of Gallura people with their richcultural and gastronomic traditions and the unrivalledpeaceful and friendly attitude ofTeltesi, the locals. Telti reflects the 2 souls of Sardinia. the first is the thriving tourism industry offering a lavish feast for the eyes - the stunning endless coastline and pristine waters -accessible within 15 minutes’ drive. The second is the genuinely traditional lifestyle with the locals still speaking the Gallurese dialect, organizing unforgettablesagra (a famous myrtle liqueurfestival isheld every august) orreligious festivals that celebrate the spirit of the simple life that the people used to live just few decades ago in this beautiful region. The area is also dotted with archaeological sites such as the giant’s grave or fairy house which intensify the feeling of the unique Sardinia history. This appealing proposed property refers to a historic traditional farmhouse or Stazzu called Lu Palazzeddu by the locals, which nestles in the amiable rural hamlet of Su Canale, just 8.5 km from the town of Olbia. The name of the house takes its origins from the locally called Palazzeddu’s stile (Palace Style), a clear sign of wealth and prosperity of the original owners. In fact, only a few families in the Gallura region could afford to develop a 2-level house; an economic effort that was unsustainable to many at that time. To preserve the traditional architectural motifs, the front of the house was not conceived to have a veranda but roughly sculpted granite benches ( Stradi as the locals call them), which open onto the yard (Pastrucciali) where visitors used to be welcomed and most of the farming work was done. The structure of the property is still very sound and contains plenty of the original features such as the granite ledges, the iron wrought railing or the granite graven balcony. Yet as it has been uninhabited for many years a through refurbishment is required to bring this impressive Stazzu to its former splendour. The property spreads over a living surface of about 200 sq m (the perimeter walls and partitions are on average of 35 - 40 cm wide in such houses) and occupies a virgin 17 ha land made of rugged hills carpeted with fragrant juniper and olive trees, rich in typical Mediterranean Macchia which is embraced by majestic granite rocks shaped through the millennia by the elements. What is more, a small portion of land stretches onto the tranquil Almiddina creek which intersects the land near the existing farmhouse. Its former inhabitants used to source the potable water by means of a reliable well which nowadays similarly provides an abundant amount of water for any needs. The electricity can be easily and inexpensively connected to a near power point. Noted for its logistics and the amazing natural attraction of the area, this property can be successfully converted into a B&B or a country hotel as there are already some flourishing business facilities of such within the territory, or simply be a fantastic family holiday house. Price is subject to Vat and legal cost.
