Arzachena i situated in the north-east coast part of Sardinia in the region known as Gallura.

The area faces the Tyrrhenian sea and lies at the meeting point of the Emerald Coast and the La Maddalena Archipelago waters, which has been protected as National Park for over two decades.

The Emerald Coast current incarnation was initiated by a group of international investors led by he Aga Khan IV in 1962.

Of great interest to Naturalist and birdwatchers alike over the years has been the Gulf wetland, which is the natural habitat of many different species of aquatic bird.
For those with a passion for golf there is the renowned Pevero Golf Club Costa Smeralda.
