The Medio Campidano Province is includes 28 municipalities characterised by diversified environments: sea, mountains, plains, hills.
This region is one of the least-populated, yet is one of the most pristine areas of Sardinia, hence the name the 'Green Province'.
As in the near Sucis-Iglesiente region, the once thriving mining industry left a strong heritage here: the fascinating sites and villages are characterized by a distinctive architecture, sunk between a dramatic, rugged coastline and expansive hills cloaked with endemic green scrubs.

The area treasures also important and unique archaeological sites; here you'll find Sardinia's single Unesco-listed site, the Nuraghe Su Nuraxi, in Barumini.
